Floating, or sensory deprivation therapy, is a healing practice that eliminates all external stimuli (no light, no noise, no sound, no gravity) to help your mind and body relax and rejuvenate. Floating is a powerful therapeutic practice that reduces pain, swelling, and stress in both the body and the mind.
The physical benefits of float therapy can include a major reduction in the body’s production of stress hormones, including cortisol and adrenaline. When excess stress hormones are produced, the body becomes distressed and problems such as stress-induced chronic pain, high blood pressure, endocrine system disturbances, and gastrointestinal issues arise. In other words, floating can help with any health condition exacerbated or caused by stress, including:
Chronic pain
Fibromyalgia
Hypertension
Rheumatoid arthritis
Insomnia
Inflammation
High blood pressure
Slowed recovery from injury
Migraines
Circulation problems
The epsom salts in a float tank also treat magnesium deficiency. Epsom salts are a form of magnesium, a mineral essential to human health. However, many people don’t get enough magnesium through diet alone—indeed, magnesium deficiency is a common health concern. In a float session, your body absorbs magnesium through the skin, which helps to correct any magnesium deficiency.
As often as you’d like! It is a personal choice, and everyone’s wellness practice varies. Some people choose to float weekly or bi-weekly, while others will schedule appointments around significant life events.
You can schedule an appointment by using our online scheduler.
You must notify Sarmatta Wellness at least 24-hours prior to your appointment if you cannot make your service. We reserve the right to charge your card up to the full price of the scheduled service if proper notice is not provided.
We provide towels, sandals, and all necessary toiletries in the private float suite. We also have blow dryers. You are welcome to bring your own towel and toiletries. We recommend comfortable clothes for post float.
Any article of clothing you take into the tank will become caked in salt when it dries due to the high salinity. We encourage you to be free. Clothing items add unnecessary sensory input that can distract you from reaching blissful relaxation. For your comfort, our floating suites are completely private and include changing and shower areas.
